Hand/Upper Extremity Rehabilitation

Ergo Rehab offers specialized care for the shoulder girdle, elbow, forearm, wrist or hand with a Certified Hand Therapist (CHT).

Hand therapy is a specialty within occupational or physical therapy that combines comprehensive knowledge of the structure of the arm with function and activity. Certified Hand Therapists have achieved advanced competency, meeting rigorous standards and acquiring the advanced study and training required to pass the certification examination. The importance of this advanced competency is recognized by Hand Surgeons, as most request that their post-operative or traumatic injury patients treat with Certified Hand Therapists. Ergo Rehab is proud to offer the services of one of the best Certified Hand Therapists in the Bay Area.

Your hand therapy treatment will begin with a consultation with our Certified Hand Therapist. She will discuss your goals and thoroughly evaluate your medical history, injury and any additional factors contributing to your condition. After gaining an appreciation of your condition and needs, your therapist will devise a customized treatment plan that gives you the best chance of achieving your goals.

Occupational/hand therapy treatments typically include a combination of manual therapy techniques, specific movements, and patient education. We may use modalities to help control pain, reduce inflammation or improve healing tissue reaction to movement or injury. Custom splinting, fabricated on site, may be needed to protect your surgery or allow your injured tissue to rest. Whatever your needs, our therapists will guide you through the rehabilitation process to best optimize your function and minimize or eliminate your pain.
